A typical day in the Early Childhood program balances structure with freedom, ensuring children can thrive in a supportive environment.
Children and parents are greeted by a teacher at the beginning of each morning.Children independently choose activities that align with their developmental needs, guided by trained educators. Activities range from practical life tasks like pouring and sweeping to art.language ,and math, geography, zoology, botany exercises and a visit to the music room.
Children practice grace and courtesy as they have prepare and serve snacks at a time of for themselves and their peers. when they want to. Children bring a snack from home.
At the beginning of each morning We have a Community Meeting where songs, music, and presentations of new activities unite the classroom, fostering connection and joy.
Time for running, climbing, and exploring in our secure outdoor learning space, which promotes physical health and a connection to nature.Children have two or three plays outdoors.
Children bring a packed lunch from home. They help prepare the classroom for lunch. Teachers will also sit and have lunch with the children encouraging grace and courtesy with eating at the table.
Throughout the morning children may choose to go into the music room if numbers allow . In the music room children sing, play all kinds of percusiion instruments such as shakers, tappers etc,, barred instruments which include all types of xylophones, learn music theory, . learn to write music and study classical composers
For children who need a nap , nap is available after lunch in the music room
This work cycle is similar to the morning. It also allows for a greater focus on following through with an activity that was started earlier on.
Children use our secret garden as an outdoor work space. They plant , dig, take care of and enjoy this work space when the weather allows
Children go on regular guided nature walks around the school where we have some beautiful natural landscapes.
Practical Life
Tasks like buttoning shirts or cleaning spills teach responsibility and build confidence. Skills such as tying shoelaces, setting a table, and caring for plants teach children responsibility and self-reliance.
Language
Phonics-based activities, early journaling, and storytelling spark curiosity and develop communication skills.
Cultural Studies
Children explore geography, history, and biology through interactive activities and group discussions.
Sensorial Activities
Materials like the Pink Tower and Brown Stairs enhance the visual. sense.Colour tablets and sound cylinders refine sensory discrimination and prepare children for advanced concepts in math and science.
Mathematics
Golden beads, fraction puzzles, and other materials help children grasp abstract concepts through hands-on exploration.
Art /Music
Art projects and daily Orff sessions nurture creativity and self-expression.
